On Valentine’s Day 14.2.2026 explodes!

Forget about algorithms and endless swipes of apps – on Valentine’s Day, the Torne Valley Museum offers the opportunity for authentic encounters, as Border Love speed dating brings singles from the border region to the same table.
On Valentine’s Day, 14 February, the Torne Valley Museum will be transformed into a unique meeting place when the BorderLove speed dating event brings together love seekers across borders. On the border between Tornio and Haparanda, people have fallen in love throughout the ages – now that tradition is taking on a new, modern form.
BorderLove takes over the museum
On the border of Tornio and Haparanda, people have fallen in love throughout the ages and crossed the river,” says Titta Kallio-Seppä, Director of the Tornio Valley Museum. Speed dating’s quick encounters give you the opportunity to meet several people at once and find a new acquaintance – maybe even the right one. At the same time, the museum environment offers natural topics for stories and a good atmosphere. Each pair also gets conversation starters to help them spark a conversation about history.
BorderLove is a multilingual event and Finnish, Swedish, English and Meänkieli are available. There are two speed dating rounds for different age groups, and participation is free of charge. The event follows the principles of a safer space.
AfterDate, open to everyone, continues the theme in the evening
The afterparty, which is open to everyone, offers more opportunities to meet new people in a boisterous après-ski spirit, but with a love theme. On Valentine’s Day, Restaurant Umpitunneli will be transformed into a gentle feeding nest. On 14 February, the restaurant will offer diners a special Share(LOVE) menu for two. The atmosphere of the evening will be lifted by a party band and Love karaoke. Singles will be pampered during the evening!

How to participate?
Registration is open 12.1.-2.2.2026 and the link can be found here.
When registering, we ask for personal data so that we can contact the participants before and after the event. Once the event has ended and possible pairs have been found, we will delete all information about the participants. The information is only used for the occasion and is not passed on to other parties.
To participants
Please note that the event is multilingual and communication may take place either in Finnish, Swedish, English or Meänkieli. Often the language of love is universal, so there is definitely a common language 😉 There will be also some help with the languages if needed.
All you need is a good mood and humor!
