Snowball Effect 5 – Northern Gaze Explores Northern Life and Its Phenomena 22.8.-16.11.2025

The works in the exhibition address current issues, thematically ranging from the relationship between nature and humans to traditions, bullying, religion, and challenging childhoods. The world’s gaze has also turned northward: geopolitically, the significance of the Arctic region is continuously increasing.

The artists featured in the exhibition were selected through an open call held in 2024, which received a record-breaking 262 applications. The preselection and final artist choices were made by Snowball Effect curator Merja Briñón, along with the exhibition teams from the Aine and Kemi Art Museums.

With the support from the Finnish Heritage Agency.
